Nothing will stop Phoebe smiling
In September 2018, three-year-old Phoebe was diagnosed with a rare disease that affects the spinal cord. She spent the following four months in an intensive care unit, on a ventilator and unable to move anything but her left hand.
In the following months, Phoebe was transferred to The Children's Trust where, thanks to the support of people like you, our expert teams were able to provide her with an intensive rehabilitation programme. In just eight weeks, Phoebe progressed from sitting independently for short periods, to walking (and even scooting) with support!
Phoebe's ambition is to be able to go back to ballet class again, and what seemed impossible a few months ago is starting to become a reality. Phoebe’s parents hope, with daily exercise and focused effort, Phoebe will walk unaided and build up the strength to breathe again for herself.
Phoebe’s amazing recovery just goes to show the life-changing difference you can help make with your monthly gift.
It’s thanks to our supporters that we can care for children like Phoebe when they need us most – helping them defy expectations. Please start your monthly gift today and help another child with brain injury to defy expectations and get their future back
With you by our side, we can change children’s lives
Every year, 40,000 children in the UK are left with a brain injury. That’s one child every 15 minutes.
Brain injury can take so much from children. It can take their ability to speak, stand, walk or feed themselves. Their parents are thrown into a world of hospitals and surgeries – transformed overnight from mum or dad to ‘carer’ and ‘nurse’.
With your help, children with brain injury can defy expectations
The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury. We’ve been helping families since 1984, providing specialist care, rehabilitation and schooling for children with brain injury.
Our specialist teams work with children to build up the skills and their self-confidence through therapy, education and fun. We know how to help children with brain injury. But we can’t do that without people like you.
Please start your monthly gift today – your support could be the start of a better life for a child with brain injury.
