The Ikea collection has lots of hidden features to add comfort, function and safety at
home.

It includes comfortable chairs that are easy to get in and out of, cushions that provide
support, an easy to lift vase and jar grippers to help unscrew lids.

Ikea said: “About 15% of the world’s population live with some form of disability. With
the OMTÄNKSAM range – developed in collaboration with ergonomists, physiotherapists
and researchers – IKEA is helping people overcome obstacles that make it difficult to
enjoy an independent life by adding extra comfort and functionality.”

The first OMTÄNKSAM products (which means ‘thoughtful’ in Swedish) were launched in
2017 and Ikea describes them as ‘combining beauty with the principles of ergonomics’.
Currently the OMTÄNKSAM range is not sold in the UK with the exception of a mixing
bowl.

New products for the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are currently in development with
a global launch date of May 2020. Ikea is the world’s largest furniture retailer.
