The 12-week Prince’s Trust Team programme helps young people who are unsure what they want to do next.

While the personal development programme is not specifically for young people with acquired brain injury it could be is useful to anyone wanting support for self-confidence, self-esteem, life skills and work experience.

Last year 11,000 children undertook the programme. This gave them the chance to gain new skills, take a nationally recognised qualification and meet new people.

The charity says that three out of four people who take the course go on to work or college courses within three months.

The programme is free and does not affect Jobseeker’s Allowance. Participants get to:

  • take on their own group community project, making a positive difference to the place where they live
  • take part in an action packed residential trip
  • get two weeks’ work experience in something they’re interested in
  • develop their English and Maths skills.

There are films online where you can find out more and courses can be found by area – several courses are starting in the next few months.

Young people can apply themselves – or can be referred by a parent, guardian, friend or someone working with a young person.
