Isabel Dolby had been at her after-school club in Hersham, when she began to cry and clutch the side of her face.
Her dance teacher quickly noticed that the left side of Isabel’s face had dropped.
She was paralysed all the way down the right-hand side of her body and put on a ventilator. Isabel regained consciousness two days later, but was unable to speak and had to be fed via a Nasogastric intubation (NG) tube.
Five weeks later, she has learned to eat and drink independently again and is almost speaking full sentences.
According to the Stroke Association, more than 400 childhood strokes occur each year, with around 10 per cent being of an unknown cause.
