If you are you living with an acquired brain injury (ABI) or care or support someone with an ABI, you can apply to the UKABIF film award 2019. You can see the full criteria here.
The UKABIF film award 2019 is an opportunity for people with an ABI to talk about and share their experiences. UKABIF said: “The UKABIF Film Award 2019 will acknowledge, recognise and reward a short film, of no more than three minutes duration that raises awareness of the benefits of neurorehabilitation following an Acquired Brain Injury.”
The criteria for submissions states that the short films should be: “Impactful, relevant and to the point, tell the story in three minutes and be animated or film or purely typography, black and white or colour.”
The film must be the entrant’s own but it can be shot on any equipment they prefer and should be accompanied by a maximum of a 100 word summary of the content. Members and non-members in the UK are all welcome to enter.
One 2017 runner-up that is a must-watch is Jimmy Movie. He was 11 years old when he made a film about life with a brain injury. You can watch it here.
New this year is the Mike Barnes Innovation Award 2019 that’s “open for entries from everyone with an innovative project/concept in the management of Acquired Brain Injury that has originality, viability, feasibility and desirability.”
The closing date for the film award is 20 September while the Mike Barnes Innovation Award closes for entries on 30 September.
