The Children’s Trust launches market engagement to support its school’s future
Published on: 02/10/26
The Children’s Trust has launched a period of market engagement to inform the next stage of planning for its school to flourish in the future, building on its specialist expertise and commitment to children and families. The work forms part of the charity’s 2025–2030 strategy, which includes future-proofing its education offer alongside strengthening its wider services for children and young people with brain injury and neurodisability.
Over the coming months, The Children’s Trust will be speaking with potential education partners and local authorities about how partnership arrangements could help the school build on its strengths and respond to the changing SEND landscape. This engagement will gather insight from across the specialist education sector to help the charity consider options for the most sustainable, future-proof model including independence from the charity. It will carefully consider how its school can continue to provide the education, therapy and care children need while adapting to those changes.
The school’s individual approach to learning, the expertise of its staff and its relationships with children and families will guide this work. Responses will help the charity assess opportunities to strengthen provision and support the school’s development over the longer term.
Mike Thiedke, Chief Executive of The Children’s Trust, said:
“Every child at our school deserves the support to learn, communicate and enjoy life in ways that are meaningful to them. Our staff make this possible through their skill, care and understanding of each child.
“This engagement is part of our planning for the school’s future. We want to draw on knowledge and experience across the sector, building on the school’s strengths so it can continue to meet children’s needs for years to come.
“Children and families remain our priority. We will keep them and our colleagues informed as this work develops and make time to hear their views and answer their questions.”
Market engagement is an exploratory stage that will inform future proposals. No decision has been made about future arrangements, and the launch of this process does not change children’s existing placements or day-to-day education and care.
Local authority commissioners have been contacted separately to update them on this work.
