We are delighted to share that The Children’s Trust has retained a ‘good’ rating following our most recent inspection from Ofsted Care.

Ofsted inspectors were impressed by the child-centred culture at The Children’s Trust:

“Staff provide genuine, nurturing care to children and look after them in a way that is thoughtful and kind... Staff talk with passion and enthusiasm about how much they enjoy spending time with children, and this contributes to a culture where the needs of children are always central to care practice.”

The report notes that children, alongside their families, are actively involved in their care planning, giving them a sense of ownership in their lives. One family member said: “I’m on a high when I come here. Staff are so supportive. I feel like I belong and have a sense of purpose.”

Ofsted inspectors also noted that the therapy and healthcare provided has positive impacts on children’s lives and highlighted family engagement as one of our strengths; bringing parents into the care of the children so this can be continued back in their home setting.

The report highlighted some other areas of strength at The Children’s Trust, including that:

  • The therapeutic and health team provides guidance and support to ensure that practice is well informed.
  • Children’s health needs are met through well-informed assessments.
  • Staff work closely with parents to learn from each other in terms of how children are responding to care plans.
  • Staff use the children’s preferred methods of communication to help them make choices and engage socially with others.
  • Children have access to all areas of their home and to the beautiful grounds, which provide areas for them to play and rest.
  • Staff are thoughtful in their planning of activities in the community.

Thank you

Bethan Eaton-Haskins, Director of Nursing & Quality at The Children’s Trust, said: “It takes input and teamwork from across The Children’s Trust to ensure that we are able to provide this level of care to the children and their families each and every day. Thank you to all our members of staff and volunteers for working so hard.”
