ROBERT trial

UK’s First Paediatric ROBERT® Trial Concludes at The Children’s Trust

Published on: 14/01/25

The Children’s Trust has successfully concluded the UK’s first paediatric trial of the ROBERT® robotic rehabilitation device. This trial, conducted in collaboration with Summit Medical and Scientific, marks a new path for paediatric neurorehabilitation.

Transforming Neurorehabilitation Outcomes

Over three months, the ROBERT® device was integrated into the neurorehabilitation programmes at The Children’s Trust, supporting children and young people with brain injury. The trial demonstrated the device’s potential to reduce handling and facilitate an increase in repetition of movement, contributing to recovery outcomes through upper and lower limb mobilisation.

Impact and Insights

ROBERT®, developed by Life Science Robotics and brought to the UK by Summit Medical and Scientific, has proven to be a versatile and effective addition to neurorehabilitation. It accommodates children and young people with varying levels of ability.

Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists at The Children’s Trust reported that ROBERT® not only provided greater opportunities for mobilisation but also allowed them to focus on other critical aspects of care, thanks to its intuitive and efficient operation.

The Children’s Trust is now evaluating the trial data to explore the potential for robotic rehabilitation in paediatric settings.
