Bake for good: National Doughnut Week 2024
Published on: 06/03/24
It’s back! National Doughnut Week will take place between 18-26 May 2024, raising vital funds for The Children’s Trust.
Throughout the week, bakeries, cafés, coffee shops and restaurants across the nation will raise money for The Children’s Trust through the sale of doughnuts – whether it's from their best-sellers or a brand-new delicious creations – while businesses and schools will run their own doughnut-inspired fundraisers.
Get involved
From today, registrations are open for bakeries, coffee shops, businesses, schools and anyone who wants to take part in this year’s National Doughnut Week.
It is completely free and, once registered, participants can access free-to-download resources and kits to help organise events and promote the week.
What’s more, anyone can get involved by treating themselves to a doughnut from a participating bakery. Find yours.
18 years of support
Sponsored by CSM Ingredients, the charity week was first launched in 1992 by Christopher Freeman, co-owner of Dunns Bakery. Freeman wanted to use his baking skills to raise money for those in need and has since gone on to raise a staggering £1.1m for charitable causes.
For the past 18 years, National Doughnut Week has supported The Children’s Trust. During this time, the campaign has raised an incredible £588,344 to enable us to continue our vital work to help children and young people with brain injury and neurodisability live the best life possible.
What’s more, baking is one of the activities we use to support children’s therapeutic goals. It can help children with their gross motor skills (think of all that weighing ingredients and whisking!) and following instructions and a recipe can help children with their attention spans and memory functions. Find out how Riley’s love of baking supported his rehabilitation journey.
Michelle Martin, Director of Fundraising and Communications at The Children’s Trust, said:
We are thrilled to be supported by National Doughnut Week again this year. The support of every baker, café, business, school and customer makes a huge difference to the children and young people we support. Not only do they love getting involved in the week itself, but every penny raised helps us provide life-changing rehabilitation, care and education support to children with brain injury and neurodisability who need us most, and their families. Thank you for your support – happy baking!
