Comics raise over £8,500 for children with brain injury
Adam Hills MBE dropped into The Comedy Store in Soho, London, earlier this week to host ‘The Children’s Trust Chortle’, a fundraising comedy night in aid of the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury.
The Comedy Store is home to the best and brightest comedic talent and fellow comedians, including ‘Not Going Out’s’ Tim Vine, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’s’ Daliso Chaponda, Luisa Omielan, Alasdair Beckett-King, Amy Hill, Ian Smith and Kate Cheka, joined Adam to entertain the crowd for the evening, helping to raise over £8,500 for The Children’s Trust.
The Children’s Trust Chortle has taken place at the Comedy Store since 2016 and in that time raised more than £55,000 for the charity. Funds raised pay for vital rehabilitation services such as play therapy, music therapy and community services to help children relearn the skills they have lost.
Adam Hills, best known for hosting the Last Leg, first became involved with The Children’s Trust when he visited the charity to meet Seb, a nine-year-old boy who had a severe brain injury and leg amputation following a road accident. Adam removed his own prosthetic foot to show Seb what it was like and help him think more positively in order to focus on rehabilitation.
Adam said: “I’ve been an Ambassador for The Children’s Trust since 2020 and it’s a charity very close to my heart. I’ve been lucky enough to visit their headquarters in Tadworth, Surrey, and see the work they do first-hand. It’s an amazing place and I’m thrilled I can help them in some way by hosting their annual comedy nights.”
Dalton Leong, Chief Executive of The Children’s Trust, adds: "It was a brilliant evening and great to see our supporters again, after having to cancel the event last year due to COVID. All the comedians kindly give their time for free and put on a great show, whilst also raising vital funds for children with brain injury. A special thank you to our Ambassador, Adam Hills, for doing a brilliant job of highlighting our work and hosting the evening.”
