The power of community
This month at The Children’s Trust, we’re celebrating the power of community – the children, families, staff, volunteers and supporters who come together through kindness, connection and care.
When a child experiences a brain injury, life can change in an instant. Everyday skills can be lost overnight, and the path forward can feel uncertain.
Rehabilitation and education don’t happen by chance. The children we support work incredibly hard each day – in therapy sessions and in the classroom – relearning skills and discovering new ways to experience the world around them.
But they’re not on their own. Behind every child at The Children’s Trust is a community of people supporting them to reach their goals – from therapists, nurses, carers and teachers, to volunteers, fundraisers, donors and supporters. Together, this support helps children and families build the brighter futures they deserve.
Acts of kindness
At The Children’s Trust, we see the power of community in acts of kindness every single day. Whether it’s a word of encouragement during a therapy session, a cup of tea and a listening ear for a parent, a volunteer giving their time in one of our charity shops, or a supporter generously contributing to our Spring Appeal - each act makes a difference.
It is this collective support from our community that gives children and families the very best opportunity to live life to the fullest
Our community of volunteers
From 1–6 June, we’re celebrating Volunteers’ Week; a time to recognise the incredible people who give their time, energy and skills to support our work.
People like Sally, who volunteers in our Stoneleigh charity shop and recently ran the TCS London Marathon to raise vital funds for children with brain injury.
“I like doing something worthwhile and feeling part of the community.” Sally
Our volunteers support us in so many ways — from driving families to appointments and days out, to caring for our beautiful grounds, assisting teachers in the classroom, and helping run our charity shops.
Their dedication strengthens our community every day. We are deeply grateful for everything they do and proud to celebrate their contribution.
Coming together
At The Children’s Trust, we love bringing our community together for fun and connection. Over the next few months, there will be lots of ways to get involved – from fundraising and volunteering to events and family activities.
One of those is our Circus Fun Day in Tadworth, Surrey next month – a joyful day of laughter, magic and stunning aerial performances for children, families and supporters alike. If you’re in the area, we’d love for you to pop in, say hi, and enjoy this wonderful day with us.
Get involved
Without our valuable community of supporters, we simply couldn’t give children with brain injury and neurodisability the opportunity to live the best life possible.
Whether you choose to volunteer, fundraise, donate, attend an event or simply help spread awareness of our work, every action helps make a difference. If you’re feeling inspired, we would love you to join us.
