On 30 August 2024, 86-year-old Pauline Rodger, proved that age is nothing but a number as she took on a 12,000ft skydive to raise money for The Children’s Trust.

Pauline, who has volunteered at The Children’s Trust retail store in Sevenoaks for the past three years, is aiming to raise £5,000, which will support the charity’s vital work in providing specialist rehabilitation, education and community services across the UK for children and young people affected by brain injury or neurodisability.

On her recent skydive Pauline says: “After the initial shock, it was a wonderful experience! I felt like I had the whole sky to myself. It has proven to me that age really IS just a number, it shouldn’t hold you back.

“I didn’t really feel any nerves until I was up in the plane and assigned to jump first. At that moment I did think ‘what on earth am I doing here?’ but this moment was quickly replaced by excitement. I was not disappointed.

“This fundraiser has been many months in preparation and the coming together of so many people who have offered me their time and support. All this has been in aid of a great cause, helping to raise funds and awareness for The Children’s Trust, for whom I volunteer locally. I am very grateful to everyone who generously donated and am still aiming to reach my final goal of raising £5,000. I am so close now.

“This experience has given me a new found thirst for adventure. This will definitely not be my last skydive. I think I may skydive over Iguazu Falls for my 90th birthday…watch this space!”
